LIVE: Genoa vs Juventus

Genoa show just a couple of alterations from their defeat at Parma, meanwhile, with Radu returning in goal and Rolon taking a spot in central midfield, alongside Radovanovic and Lerager. Jandrei and Bessa are the players to make way, both dropping down to the bench, as manager  Cesare Prandelli decides against making mass changes. Centre-back Romero is rumoured to have already agreed a move to opponents Juventus, but he was always likely to retain his place alongside Zukanovic today.

Allegri confirmed in the build-up to this match that Ronaldo would play no part today, giving the superstar forward a chance to rest ahead of Portugal’s upcoming internationals. It is a much-changed side fielded by Allegri on the back of the win against Atletico, as six new faces come. As well as swapping Ronaldo with Dybala, a surprise omission from the start against Atleti, Allegri also recalls Perin, Caceres, Rugani, Bentancur and Alex Sandro, taking the places of Szczesny, Chiellini, Spinazzola, Matuidi and Bernardeschi, who all drop down to the bench. The visitors will also change shape, seemingly going with a 3-5-2 of sorts here.

Juventus subs: Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, Moise Kean, Carlo Pinsoglio, Wojciech Szczesny, Leonardo Spinazzola, Blaise Matuidi, Giorgio Chiellini, Federico Bernardeschi, Pablo Moreno.

JUVENTUS XI (3-1-4-2): Mattia Perin; Martin Caceres, Leonardo Bonucci, Daniele Rugani; Miralem Pjanic; Joao Cancelo, Emre Can, Rodrigo Bentancur, Alex Sandro; Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic (c).

Genoa subs: Gianluca Lapadula, Luca Mazzitelli, Koray Gunter, Nicola Dalmonte, Miguel Veloso, Daniel Bessa, Goran Pandev, Federico Marchetti, Davide Biraschi, Giuseppe Pezzella, Stefano Sturaro, Jandrei.

GENOA XI (4-3-3): Ionut Radu; Pedro Pereira, Cristian Romero, Ervin Zukanovic, Domenico Criscito (c); Lukas Lerager, Ivan Radovanovic, Esteban Rolon; Darko Lazovic, Antonio Sanabria, Christian Kouame.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side have won five matches in a row in the Italian top flight to open up a surely insurmountable gap at the summit. The champions are without defeat in 27 Serie A games all term, meanwhile, and they have not lost on their travels in 26 league outings – the longest-such run in their history. Thirteenth-place Genoa will therefore have to pull off a massive upset if they are to return to winning ways today, having followed up back-to-back goalless draws with a 1-0 loss at Parma eight days ago.

Juventus head into this match on a real high following their incredible midweek display to overturn a two-goal deficit in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash with Atletico Madrid, prevailing 3-2 in that thrilling tie thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s heroics. The Italian champions have a quarter-final showdown with Ajax to look forward to next month, but for now attention switches back to their Serie A campaign, with today’s match presenting them with a chance to move 21 points clear of second-place Napoli should they come out on top.
